What do we hear on the roads??
Some time back i took these two shots on a Chennai road. I was in an Ambassador (considered the tough old car for Indian roads). This guy was one of the many people (including me of course!!) sweating it out in the sweltering sun.
This man was all ears… for something!!!
I’m curious to know what you really listen to while you travel?
Outskirts of Chennai!
Everything/ Everyone was moving!
I saw these scenes sometime back when i travelled to North Madras.
Casual labourers off to the vegetable markets…
and Lorries of all sizes and shapes were seen on the way!!!

Hi Parents
Children can be real smart and newsy, i mean with their expressions, drawings, and lifestyle. Its a kind of survivalism for them i guess. THey need to survive the schools, traffic, parents, teachers, rules, pollution, food etc.
Their expressions reflect the social order and the way our lives go. THe daily rush and din, violence, music, pornography, media explosion, and many other pulls and pressures of modern life has a bearing on the kids too. They listen silently to the articulations, the pain and anguish from all over the world through television. THere is a marked insensitivity as one goes older. Does kids art make a difference for them…Here are some shots of what my kids tend to draw nowadays….They are 7 (boy)and 5 years (girl). THere is a rush in the way they watch TV, do their homework and even what they draw.
How about your kids? WHat do they draw? What do you think of their art? Do you see more than normally people see in art? What type of art is out there from our kids? Lets share them.
I’ll try to keep you regularly posted….
Take care
A church in North Chennai!!
Kattur Church!!
The local belief and christian history in chennai, believes that the St. Jude’s
church and its patron saint St. Jude, is there for the weak, forgotten, and the depressed. Believers pray to this saint to make the ‘impossible becomes possible’.
This is how the inside of the church looked like
I also found two interesting symbols in the church.
Wonder what they meant?
Anyway…we prayed fervently as a family, and i prayed for the well being of everyone and for the world…..
I guess its a question of having faith, and thinking good thoughts for everyone. There’s no harm you do to anyone, if we pray. Good waves change the world for the better. I felt good praying that morning to the almighty, through the intercession of St. Jude!
Before we reached Kattur Church…
We came across open roads, and trees, like this one
many roadside temples
and neat looking huts made of hay. They looked great for the heat…
and i nearly forgot, many brick kilns…

kidart – series one..2 nos.
These are some computer paintings that my son drew and saved into my PC maybe a year back. There’s more… and i’ll share them on this blog.
Its a famous cartoon character. The world kids recognize Harry Potter, Picachu, Shaktiman, Superman, Power Rangers and many others.
Its a fast moving world for our kids. The games, speed, and the rush of blood is so much in them. Does ‘Coke’ force the kid to run around like mad…Its scares me..often, the speed at which they go! Or is this activity (hyper) natural for kids?
A mashed head is very comfortably glossed over by modern kids too. THere are many such graphic scenes getting into the psyche of our kids today. What effect will it have for them!
Here’s a ‘pirate’ and a ‘thief’. The thief is already colored. I did not tell him.
Modern kids get bored fast. As we evolve, i guess our kids need more of what is good and ideal. Computer games, video parlors, school drills, math formulaes, the outdoor games are essential for kids. All and more of them. Let’s fine tune all of them and keep the best ones for them!
But what effect does life have on our kids? How does their psyche evolve? Can we use art to keep track of our kids? I guess that through the encouragement of the arts and crafts in them, we not only form them, but we keep them more importantly, occupied and happy. They might even pick up some life skills in the bargain!
Here’s wishing them well!
The Roots and Remedies to Terrorism and Violence
One key block to develpment anywhere in the world is violence and terrorist acts. These acts are premeditated actions by man to destroy or annihilate. There are overtones of frustration, revenge and deep sense of hatred and hurt exhibited by the propagonists.
I see the origins of terrorism and violence even in the microcosmic experiences of violence, hatred and jealosy we may experiences in our homes and our local societies. We have much to learn from the little problems and tensions that people experience in community life, which is continually and in the long run kept unaddressed or taken care of. The resultant frustrations and negative feelings get bundled up into the unrelenting mode of violence and destructive tendencies.
This thread is inspired by sundar, chenthil, and atman’s discussion in the marketing posts recently. I thought that their quality of comments on dreams, health, life, balance, rules could be chanelled into addressing certain problems that we all experience in our societies. May’be our discussions could have an answer to the long pending scourge of violence and terrorism in our societies. Gandhi succeeded in his ‘experiments with truth’. Martin luther has a thing or two to share on the subject. I hope to in the next two weeks do a lot of work in addressing the ’Roots and Remedies to Terrorism and Violence’ in more detail. I’m sure that the subject requires a multi-pronged approach to collecting our solutions. Because we talk about primarily human behaviour while attempting such investigations, we may have to address the related issues and problems with a lot of care, compassion and understanding.
I look forward to the bloggers on this thread to share their mind with lots of openness and hope.
God speed!!

My son’s agitation and Pain due to burns
Yesterday evening was pre-deepavali day. In India this season is a celebration of the ‘good over the evil’. One wierd custom which is commonplace in india is that people burst crackers and fire the flower pots, as part of the celebrations. Later, i’ll share my thoughts on why i call it weird. My son too went out of our home to be part of the melee and excitement. There’s quite a number of kids his age (around 10 yrs) in our colony. Suddently he runs back home in great agitation and fear. He was on the bed with his legs up in the air, sweating, and in obvious pain. On enquiry he tenderly points out to the burn mark on his right sole of his feet. He was hissing and biting his teeth in pain, face sweating and eyes wide open. He said that the pain was too much for him and he wanted me to help.
I immediately thought of ‘Hypericum’ , a homeopathic remedy, which is meant for any condition where the nerve points, (particularly in the feet, palms, lips etc.) are injured.
I gave four pellets to my son and i could see in a few minutes how his screwed up face, came back to normal. He was also earlier holding his knees and the leg tightly, and he now eased his legs onto the bed. He nodded his head in agreement, when i enquired whether his pain was less. Two more doses in ten minute intervals got him up and running.
My son had stamped on the burning embers of a sparkler, which the kids had put on the road tarmac. The burn was a three to four inch mark on the sole.
Hypericum saved my son a lot of pain and i’m sure that it has other solutions too for the suffering people out there. Later on i would post a photograph of the burn mark on my son’s sole as proof for this posting. You are welcome to post any clarifications or thoughts on this post
Take care
Its all about my passion for healing
The passion for healing made me to search for cures, ‘real cures’ to the various problems of man. I realise now that these cures could be at the mental, emotional or and physical levels. You might wonder, “Who’s this guy to talk about cures”? Well, my passion sprung up from my frustration with the medications and attitudes of the medical world to my own web of health problems during my childhood. My questions centred around, why medicine is not as helpful to patients as it should be? Why should there be surgeries for tonsillitis, ulcers? Why not a malarial patient get better treatments other than the raw and bitter quinine? Why is there a rampant over-dosage of metrodinazole tabs (Flagyl) for solving a dysentery (amoebic) problem? etc. etc.
What happened is that I kept searching at a personal level all these years. My improper health didn’t help my case during my educational life too. I did not get a medical seat when I wanted it. I got into business studies but my passion prevailed over me and made me complete a Ph.D. study on the theme ‘Consumer Orientation and Effectiveness of Medical systems’. I put all my passion for medicine over the years and researched hard to conduct empirical studies with physicians practicing medicine. I got them to respond to my study theme and i think that i have some interesting results. I propose to share my findings along with bits and pieces of the medical knowledge which I have collected over the years.
I realise that many among you may have similar experiences as mine. I also understand that your knowledge of the everyday magical remedies for daily life problems would be as enervating, if not more superior than my experiences.
I therefore, look forward to learning much from you, while I promise that I will share everything I know regarding several healing interventions. I hope you would join me, to do our bit to reduce the sufferings of our fellow brethren.
Cheerio
Jose
